Sisal, But Make It Chic: My Favorite Affordable Finds
Elevate Your Space with Style & Texture (Sisal & Jute!) for A Timeless Look
There’s nothing more effortlessly elegant than a sisal rug. It’s the foundation of so many of my favorite spaces—timeless, textured, and the perfect neutral base to build upon. But let’s be honest: some sisal rugs can lean a little too basic. If you’re investing in a foundational piece, why not elevate it with color, pattern, or a little extra texture?
Why do designers (myself included) love sisal and jute rugs? Because they are the ultimate chameleons of the design world:
They’re versatile and complement any decor scheme, whether you're into modern minimalism or full-blown maximalism.
They’re durable and layer beautifully with other rugs for a cozy, collected look.
They add depth, warmth, and texture, making a space feel instantly more elevated and inviting.
They are a great alternative to Patterson Flynn’s Abaca collection and famous Stark patterns like the Bikaner rug.
And let’s be real—because they’re so affordable, you won’t feel as terrible if they get ruined by a child or at a party (because we’ve all been there).
I’ve been on the hunt for the best sisal (and sisal-adjacent) rugs that don’t just blend in but actually add a layer of interest to a space. Right now, my two favorite sources are Rush House and Rugs USA—both offering options that feel high-end without the high-end price tag.
From delicate chevron weaves to playful contrast borders, these picks prove that sisal doesn’t have to be boring. Whether you want something refined and natural or a piece with a pop of color, I’ve pulled together a collection of my absolute favorites here.
My Favorite Picks
From Rugs USA:
Dogwood Collection (I recently sourced this for a very special project—stay tuned to see it in both Brown & Black and both are now on Clearance!)
Grassland Handwoven Jute Rug (Also Availble in Black!):
From Rush House (and did I mention a 9x12 runs around $450-$495?!):
From delicate chevron weaves to playful contrast borders, these picks prove that sisal doesn’t have to be boring. Whether you want something refined and natural or a piece with a pop of color, I’ve pulled together a collection of my absolute favorites here. I promise, a chic and affordable sisal is just a click away!
With Gratitude,
xx,
This is timely as I need a sisal/jute rug to put over the horrible carpet in my rental! My only concern is that, as the carpet is very plush, that it will feel weird to walk on the jute rug on the top. What do you think?
