This is timely as I need a sisal/jute rug to put over the horrible carpet in my rental! My only concern is that, as the carpet is very plush, that it will feel weird to walk on the jute rug on the top. What do you think?
No! I would go with one that is more of a tighter weave and flat lay but it will not be weird! Skip the rush house and go with perhaps one from Rugs USA (they are also having a 30% off sale) but go with a bigger size if it is going on a wall-to-wall rug so that it minimizes the 'show' of the other and also downplays the movement from one texture (plush) to another (tighter sisal/jute weave!). I hope that helps! I layer rugs all the time and usually its a Turkish or Kilim on a sisal but putting one over a rental carpet is something I see done all the time and I think is a fantastic way to minimize unattractive carpet you cannot do anything about! xx
Thank you so much for the considered and helpful reply! I'm in the UK but we have some good equivalents of Rugs USA etc! If it's not too much effort, pls could you share a link of what a tight weave rug looks like?
